The Wave.

Let me tell you about The (friendly, two-finger) Wave.

I'm talking about the old-fashioned "country hello" that drivers on the road give one another.
Nothing brightens my day like a friendly wave on the road from a stranger.

It's silly really, but if you've ever received The Wave then you know the instant sense of community and friendship you get from this. Maybe it's powerful for me because it's new?

Where I come from people don't wave...and if they do it's with their middle finger.

Do they "wave" where you live?

If they don't - try it!

You never know, you might just brighten someone's day.

I grew up in waving country and love it. It's still good to go home and have everyone wave at ya.

Ooo and doesn't it make you mad when you do the wave and it isn't returned?

@Texwisgirl - Yes! Those cowboys in their pickup trucks can see this city girl coming from a mile away!

@Farmchick - speaking? Really? That is interesting! I'm going to try and call it that and see if anyone takes to it!

@Renegades - I have yet to try it during one of my visits back home. I'm scurred!

@Jenny Glen - It DOES! I get so upset and tend to take it personal. :/

I remember seeing that when I would go out to visit my grandparent's farm growing up. I always thought it was such a nice thing to do...just a little wave to a stranger (or maybe someone you know).
I missed it for many years, living in the Denver area, but I am happily saying "hello" to people all the time here in Strasburg. :)

Good Ole KY people LOVE the wave. Infact, Brad gets upset if someone doesn't wave back! haha

Where I come from we have the wave too, but now where I live currently! When I try it, no one waves back...boo.

LOVE this! In Hawaii, we have the "shaka" or the hang ten gesture, as some know it. It's used in place of the wave, I guess... actually it's kind of a replacement for the thumbs up. Anyway, the two-finger wave would make me happy too. :)

I am used to this as well since I grew up in the country. Everyone waves at everyone else regardless if you know them or not. Adds a smile to my face too.
